Waiting

Haunted by words
I wrote so long ago
Then the meaning was unclear
But now I know

I didn't quite understand
The words I wrote then
But it's clear to see a premonition
Spilled from my pen

It seems like we're always waiting
For something
Instead of just living

Three simple verses
Amateur, I'm aware
But back then I was just starting
And really didn't care

The premonition part
Is very easy to see
And I think of that statement
You'd readily agree

Hindsight is 20/20
We'll never know what we've lost til it's gone
At this point you probably think
I'm saying you're completely wrong

I understand why you're hesitant
For your soul she practically did kill
But just because she broke your heart
Doesn't mean that I will

It seems like we're always waiting
For something
Instead of just living
