Waiting

There is nothing I can do
but wait upon the Lord
While I do, I faithfully
put on my shield and sword

These things will help protect me
from all the devil's schemes
He's always ready to attack
and ruin me it seems

Waiting can be difficult
a trying time for sure
Sufficient though, is my God's grace
to help me to endure

No evil power on the earth
can trouble me for long
My Father's hands shall hold me up
and help me to be strong

No stormy seas, no flaming fire
will ever do me harm
as long as I do faithfully
lean on my Father's arm

I must sit and wait sometimes
Oh Father, this I know
But this is how You make Yourself
inside my heart to grow

All things work together for
the good You do in me
Your hands have caused the lame to walk
and made the blind to see

So with those same almighty hands
make me a patient man
For nothing worketh patience
like a world of waiting can.
