Wait For Me

The little boy in overalls Trying to keep up With the older children Cry's “ Hey you guys, wait up” “Wait For Me” She had just finished high school And was ready to move on She tightly hugged her boyfriend And implored him “while I'm gone” “Wait For Me” The soldier kissed his little boy And told him he must go He said “take care of mommy I'll be back before you know” “Wait For Me” The gray haired man knelt down and gazed At the name etched on the stone My days are without purpose Now that you've gone on alone “Wait For Me” Life's moments are so fleeting “Wait For Me”

Bob, at some point we are all reunited in the afterlife. The scenarios you created in your verses were very touching, especially the soldier and the elderly man looking at his wife's grave. Kept thinking about the movie "Heaven Can Wait" while reading this exemplary poem! Love, Carolyn
