Visited the fallen

Called on the fallen
Now buried by the way
I stood in the rain
On a grey, stormy day

Flags hung on the posts
And fluttered in the breeze
I bowed low my head
Then knelt down to my knees

Thought I heard the words
Of stories long gone by
Echoing from hills
That rise to touch the sky

The ghosts of the past
No longer cry in pain
Resting now in peace
Far from where they're slain

I stand in freedom
Distanced from battle grounds
Family and friends
The gladness knows no bounds

Yet i know for sure
The reason I am free
They gave their lives for
The ultimate decree
