Visible In Darkness

The stars shine only in the darkness
A candle in the gloom of death
The light is cut from diamond starkness
Blossoms fade with winter's breath

So beauty leaves the world behind
Searching for a higher power
A crystal secret to unwind
A fragile heap upon a bower

The stars shall linger until dawn
A beauty of a different kind
And in the silence shadows yawn
A quiet song of mourning minds

Our hearts betray us to the madness
Of love and life and stone and grave
A fleeting shade of all our gladness
But we know the stone was rolled away
