View From the Ceiling (Repost)

Daunting dark illusions flicker,
as the graying fog grows thicker,
getting older, daily sicker,
Xanax makes the days go quicker.

Confusion is the daily norm,
covers cannot keep you warm,
dreams denied cohesive form,
manifest, though not earth-born.

Days and nights no longer clear,
harken back to yesteryear,
solid objects disappear,
even though they were just here.

Defeated, see the spirit rise,
behold the body where it lies,
it was, you see, an earthly guise,
and one not known for long goodbyes.

There is such an eerie truth to this....yes..I believe we have all had those out of body experiences...some of us acknowledge them..some won't. Well written! ~ Carrie

Great writing here. You have truly captured a near death experience and with such wonderful description. Your words show the beauty and the fear of this situation so clearly. Smiles from Lolita

Awesome description of a near-death experience (NDE). I've read much about this subject. Once when I had a very high fever, I was on the ceiling in my bedroom looking down at myself and my sweet cat curled up next to me. This is a very appealing and creative poem. Love it!
