Vicious Cycle

The brush imitates your eyes
You eyes imitate the green grass
The green grass only grows because of the sun
The sun only sheds light because it was so
And because it was so we ask questions
We ask questions hoping someone will answer
We answer these questions under pressure
(But who really knows?)

I look to the sky thinking I've done this before
If all we do is copy then what's original?

Million Dollar question Timothy. A great point to ponder over. Go back to big bang or even before that you may find the answer. Love....rajat PS: Who says the world is only the copy of the original? It is a mere dream?. A Greek philosopher? Really, I have forgotten his name. May be Plato. I have to see. Love. rajat

Not sure who you're quoting, but Plato would make sense. You ask some interesting questions yourself, Rajat! I was talking about the writer's dilemma, and pondering whether or not anything we come up is truly "original" in it's entirety, or just original in it's composition. Course it's open for interpretation :)

Good day Timothy! I always contend that originality lies in the mind of the author (not writer, but doer). Sometimes, what we believe to be original has already been repeated over and over again, perhaps under different guises. But should we stop cycling just because the wheel repeats the same motion ad nauseam!! // paul

I daresay we don't stop cycling! Repetition is better than dormancy.

God delights in repetition but if you look closely everything is inherently original. No two flowers, people or snowflake is the same. Therefore originality abounds because God made us in his image.

Richard, I have enjoyed your comment over Timothy's poem.Reality is composed of many ultimate substances. They are all images of God.

So ergo God's image is original and comes in many shapes and sizes. I do enjoy your perspective, Richard.

A sliver here a sliver there. Authenticity is everywhere. Not quite unique in it's display. But surely it must have it's way. You know you've written a good poem when you can inspire me to write these goofy rhymes. Peace. :)

Nice to see your smiling face here, Jack! Very nice indeed :)

Yeah, when you think about it, none of us probably has one original thought. But it is so cool to google one of your own lines of poetry and find out that nobody SAID it that way except you!! That is something anyway. haha

Maybe not original in the sense that we've created something completely new. But original in how we pieced different fragments together... think of it like a mosaic!
