Variety

A meal with lots of choices
Is the kind I like to serve
For everyone will find,
Right from the very first hors d’oeuvre

At least one food that’s tasty
Since variety allows
Some tidbits to remain untouched
While others earn some Wows!

It’s hard to hide displeasure
If the items on your plate
Comprise a gastric palette
Made of victuals you hate.

The choices on my table
All are geared, though, to my taste
So whatever guests don’t finish
Surely will not go to waste.

My taste in foods is broad. I'll try new food a first time. Growing up in a French family I swallowed foods most boys would have refused. The only food that repulsed me (though I did taste it) was BOUDIN, pork blood sausage that resembled black dog turds. / M

I always fix my favorite things, for there are only two of us now, and I usually fix for five to seven. We eat left overs for a long time, and I love them.

I was raised that food does not need to be tasty, only nourishing, and to eat everything on my plate no matter what! That has been a challenge, especially as Asian food appears to me like some drunk just puked in a bowl, but even if it goes right through me, hey! I am still alive and kicking and the cooks are happy! Another great write, Ilene! Aloha! Rico

- I don't like to throw food, Ilene ... everything can be reheated ... or used with something else - mix for an exciting meal :) - Great written :) - hugs // Anne-Lise :)

The only thing I really dislike is marmalade. Everything else I’m willing to give it a go.

You fulfill the adage that variety is the spice of life --- Ilene's variety, Ilene's spice(s) and Ilene's life! Way to control your household, Boss! LOL. Enjoyed this one, Chef. ~ Picky Eater (I pick when I eat -- whenever the spirit moves me!) ~ Gershon

oh what a wise woman you are indeed, try to cater for the masses but do foods you too enjoy. Have you noticed if there is one item left on a plate no one is polite enough to eat it - just observe people at a buffet party when you go to one lol:-) hugs Jan xx
