Vanity's Innocence
If I’d have never breathed the ash
If I’d have never felt the gash
If I’d have told myself to live
If I’d never see what we all give
I recoil into pain among the tender flowers
Recall the reasons why I will not devour
Sacrifice myself for everything preserved forever
Sacrifice myself for everything I could discover
Train my mind within the glowing freedom
Train my will and give birth to seasons
Sacrifice everything I was
Sacrifice everything because
Innocence and a sense of sight
Choose if I could give birth to light
Innocence never gave me wisdom
But in this darkness I see my own decision
If I was never born in painful weather
If I was never the mantle of forever
If we could touch the light and feel love
If we were born in light and chose the above
Innocence retains our painful trust
Innocence is what we kill with lust
Innocence is what we choose in hunger
Innocence was always what we cast asunder
