Valleys of Tormented Despair -Fullstop-

Empty tin cans, as drained as I
Rattle among dusky streets
Crowds appear, to disperse
There's no change, anywhere.

Hope is on my left hand side
But I stare blankly straight ahead
Faith lay some way back
No point in turning round.

I've circumnavigated thrice this world
It appears salvation is merely a myth
For the tired and weary, a mirage awaits
God only speaks on long dusty roads.

When you're in a hole this deep
It seems easier to dig than climb
I feel I've extracted so much soil
I left a valley in my wake.

My attempted entry to Broken Wings Form 'V' contest.
