Valentine Memories

I found a rose of scarlet hue
And laid it near your chest
You sleep beneath the silent snow
In God's eternal rest

I thought of all the Valentines
Your heart had passed to me
The velvet boxes trimmed with lace
The "Be My Valentine" plea

Oh winds of time please take my tears
I've cried for far too long
I will remember all those years
With Springs first April song
