Valentine Card

VALENTINE CARD I went to the store on that cold, winter day In search of a card to send it away, A card with the words for a mother so dear Whose time to depart surely is drawing near. For Valentines Day was now drawing close, And I wanted to say what I was feeling most. I didn’t look long, for the right one was there That told her I loved her for all of her care. The words most important were there at the close: “No matter what” told me that one should be chose. I didn’t expect what would come back to me Till after some days in the mail I did see: A little white envelope, I knew was from her, And nothing inside it caused my heart then to stir. But on the back, scribbling, the best she could do Was to say back then to me that she loved me, too. No, I couldn’t read it, but I can pretend Her Valentine card with its words to me penned Just told me that card that I sent her that day Touched her heart something special that she could not say. I know we will be there in heaven some day And once again clearly love’s words we will say.
