Vaccines

I took my first pneumonia shot
And now my arm hurts – not a lot
But just enough to let me know
That through my veins vaccine does flow.

Before this year, I’ve blown it off
But now, at least, if I should cough
I’ll chalk it up to just a cold
And panic, thus, will be controlled.

I’ll wait a week or two until
The redness leaves and then I will
Prepare again for pain and tingles
When I get the shot for shingles!

Haha! Love the last line! Never had shingles but I know friends who have and, yes, they got over it. So it must be curable. The red-tailed hawk is a bird of my childhood. I have written several poems on the subject, most are "serious". I know predatory animals serve a purpose in God's scheme of things, but I wish he hadn't made them so savage in their eating needs. Thanks. / M
