Useless Friend

Listen to poem:
I want to be
A useless friend
Without a means
Towards an end

I'd love to be
That one you know
Who's presence heals
With naught to show

Transaction lite
No gifts or tools
Just present
There to break the rules

That life is full
And resource heavy
True friends don't need
Transaction levy

I'd love to be
The friend you choose
When life is sweet
Nothing to lose

Unrequired
Layabout
Just present
For a mate hangout

Agenda free
Just there to hold
Nothing is bought
Nothing is sold

I want to be
There on demand
To chat and laugh
Or hold a hand

There is no reason
No goal, no end
I simply want
To be that friend

True Friends are great treasures and we don't get to find it lying around all the time. I have a few good ones and I thank God for them. It takes a lot of building, prayers, tolerance, good heart to be a good friend and to keep one.

This is so touching to read and a wonderful way to express true friendship with your poetic words, narration and quotes. I wholeheartedly agree with both your comments below. A true friend is another family member to share the ups and downs of life. I love the unconditional words used here - the last two stanza’s especially are heartwarming. I’m sure you are that friend to many dear Sam :) x

Such friends are rare and precious, a friend that is one for no reason but just the pleasure of being one that stands by your side whether in sun or rain! Beautiful and thoughtful poem well woven and delivered. Pleasure reading always your poems
