Us

A distant rumble
Above the shore
Resounds to remind us
We aren't much more
Than the grains of sand
Upon this ground
Despite the stars
That all surround

The light of distant suns
May reach
From afar
To ocean deeps
Until we see their glow
And sigh
To realize —

Our light cannot reach them
