Upon One Time

UPON ONE TIME A FRIEND I'm just a dog abandoned alone I never had much now everything's gone Not my intention to cause the world pain Being someone's dog was my hope to gain I only wanted to be a friend Now I travel a road without end People ignore me or look with disdain This brings to me a heart filled with pain To humans I'm just a problem or trouble Since my presence intrudes on their bubble I can be swept up and it's good riddance No one cares it's not on their conscience. We are forgotten in this world we live in But upon one time dogs were man's best friend ELIZABETH SMITH
