Up Until Next Year

Mistletoe, jingle bells and a jolly ho ho ho People are festive and fine wherever I go Feeding us homemade treats, the wind chill twenty below We are all pretending to be friends, but I am in the know. We will all be giggly and personable through the snow. The icy road ways will be a challenge – no! no! no! On New Year’s Eve we will kiss each other just so. But then we will return to the land of just so-so. The holidays are terrific, don’t take me wrong. When we are all singing the “I love everyone” song. But they do not last forever, and they do not last long. We go back to work tomorrow, so clang the gong. It’ll be like we did not have any break at all. We will get grumpy and grouchy again; many will stall. At eating the homemade treats, resolutions so tall…. We will go back to same oh, same oh until next fall. When Halloween comes we remember Christmas again. Because the stores will fill up with decorations and then. It will be back to mistletoe, jingle bells and a jolly ho ho ho And people will act festive and friendly wherever you go

So true, Caren. It's getting harder to look on the bright side of life. A bit of colour is very cheery.

It is color I seek, so color I find Shirley. Happy New Year!

You have written the truth here, Caren. But isn't that a shame? Aren't holidays (originally Holy Days) meant for people to come closer to their Maker, to mend their ways, to improve -- and to take something lasting out from the holidays? ~ Wooly-Eyed Idealist

That is what they are supposed to do, for sure.
