Notes About The Poem

UNWRAPPED
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
beneath the bruise of twilight,
a stranger’s spare coin dropped into his cup~
copper warmth against winter’s bite.
the way my mother’s voice smiles
when she says, Eat while it’s still hot.
these gifts: unwrapped, unearned.
