Unwitting Creator

Three decades of habitats
hacked to the ground
only a stump remaining

You see it was in the way of establishment

Mourning tree's beauty
and lost pairs of visitors in all coloration

It took a while to see

Crying in vain
not noticing the open plain
the hacker fortuitously created

A playground for dragonflies
now flying untethered
socializing in the new spacious range

The hacker kept hacking
yet was powerless too hold back the power of nature

The stump kept on flourishing
despite the hackers intent

Now colorful vistors
manifest in pairs again
just a little lower

and dragonflies leave the grounds
with a belly full of mosquitos

yes....i believe we are in those times in our history.....really a wonderful poem, Jill...plus...I have meditated in Superior National Forest one time a few yrs back, sitting and watching a Dragonfly swoop for a particular skeeter, then return to his/her roost, over & over!....with visual skills far surpassing humans....good on yer again! I had to look up the definition of morel telos and your poem came up! You sure love your shrooms. Why? I am working with some verse in my mind. I always create prose in my mind first, than get to jotting it down, then modifying. The art has to come to me, I can't seek out my art. I am patient. You are a wonderful talent. I recall your suggestion of the audobon society, I donate via Arlo Guthrie whenever I can. I got to meet him and his daughter at Denny's after a show. I think it may be time to get back to grass roots. Rangers just lost the 3rd conference game, so I am going to take some trips through your eyes. Thank you!!!
