Untouched Souls

You said that you would wait for me
Despite whom you were with
That you would leave them longing
And we could finally live.

Yes… I was much younger
And didn’t know what best
And yes I kept this secret…
And played it close to chest

But years I have been waiting
My feelings never left
But now you are in love again
And children you’ve been blessed

But still I always find you
And now and then we talk
But now you have another
And my meagre heart is wrought

I know I made you wait for me
I should have shared the truth
But I was scared to lose you
Through the sacrament of youth

But now we are both older
And miles and miles apart
And nothing can be done to change
The aching in my heart

I know that you still love me
Have and always will
But the fact I cannot touch you…
And probably never will

It kills a major part of me
The one that you hold still
The one that keeps on beating
And probably always will

Until that day befalls me
The day we finally meet
I’ll sit here waiting patiently
My soul mate I will greet…

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
