Untitled

My very best put to the test When of his love I sought, But thou reminds me of the zest In love that is not bought And when I finally gained his love I found it to be untrue, Those eyes that I had oft' dreamed of Were black beneath the blue But too late I chanced to notice this When of me, he'd darkly spoken, And he left, not without my first kiss In return for a heart, well broken Sorrow haunted my days from then As I dreampt of the time whence I felt free, But somehow thou made my life cheerful again, And I found my true love within thee.
