Until I Go

We’ve lost him, he’s through
Oh, but where did he go?
I wish I really knew
It’s somewhere no one can know
Til it’s there time to go too

For where he has gone
Is a place many try to describe
They’ve told the stories so long
Their words they’ve tried to transcribe
But I know their words may be wrong

He’s gone to a place
Where no one ever comes back
His soul is gone without a trace
I think of this as I dress in black
Wondering if he still sees my face

His body has stayed
But he is no longer inside
His body will be laid
Into a casket for he has died
Then into the grave already made

I wonder if he saw a light
Like many have said
Though I don’t know if they’re right
For none of them are dead
So how could they know his plight?

I feel the wind blow
Wondering if that’s him saying goodbye
Where he has gone I don’t know
They say beyond the sky
But I won’t know until I too go.
