Unstable Wishes

Hands are shaking, tears in the
making.
Quivering lips, frozen finger
tips.
There's an unsure look in your
eyes, my emotions are dressed
in a disguise.
Your words are meant to sink
deep into my heart but my past
and fears just tear them apart.
When you try to hold my hand,
I disappear like quick sand.
When you look into my eyes my
emotions go on a ride, the kind
of emotions I can't hide.
But the sound of your laugh,
the way you smile, makes me
wish you could stay for more
than a while.
My fears are eating me inside
out.
I want to do this but the back
of my head is screaming sirens
of doubt.
Why does the thought of
holding you make me go
insane?
Why am I the only one that's
on your brain?
What is it that causes us to
care?
I guess we'll never find out
until we've been ensnared.
Stay by my side and I'll stay by
yours, and together we will
open new doors
