Unstable
I see no Knight in shining armour
On his trusty steed
I can't see the local farmer or man of any
Colour or creed
Who would want a valentine like me
No man with any sense
Who would date a woman
Who's name is Hortense
Hortense stable is my unfortunate name
Not a good start
When you are in the waiting game
I have been waiting to be someone's Valentine
For a very long time
At school, when asked if I could play
The boys would shout Neigh, Neigh, Neigh
Go Hortense
And play the other side of the school fence
I would not mind so much
If I was tall and slim
Like a racehorse
Elegant and slim
I look more like a pony
A Shetland at that
Small round and podgy
Cuddly and fat
One day while out walking and feeling
Sorry for myself
All my friends were married and
I was still on the shelf
I suddenly felt dizzy
My head was spinning around
When I came to, I was
Laying on the ground
I felt someone's arms around me
Who said "are you alright, love?
Looking up, I saw a man
An angel from above
I said "thank you" as I got back on my feet
The man smiled kindly and said "this is an unusual
Way to meet"
He asked for my name, I did not reply
This strangers presence made me feel shy
He looked hesitant then began to speak
"I would like to see you again if you don't
Think I have a cheek. My name is Ned
Ned Trainer to be precise
Laugh if you like, I will still think you're nice."
"I would like to know your name
If you feel you are able."
Taking a deep breath she said
"My name is Hortense Stable."
