Unspoken Words
A letter to my mother, long overdue,
The words that I've kept inside, now coming through.
For though we talk each day, there's much unsaid,
And in this letter, I want to express what's in my head.
You've given me so much, in ways big and small,
From the way you soothe my fears, to the way you make me feel tall.
You've shown me how to love and how to be strong,
And through your example, I've learned right from wrong.
As a child, your love was like a warm, gentle breeze,
And in your embrace, I found peace and ease.
You'd listen to my stories and wipe my tears,
And through it all, you were there through the years.
Now as an adult, with my own life to lead,
I find myself turning to you for advice and to plead.
For though I may be grown, and strong on my own,
Your love and guidance, continue to be shown.
So take this letter, dear mother, as a token of my heart,
For all the times you've been there, right from the start.
And though the words may be few, they're full of love,
Sent from the heavens, like a dove.
For you are the sunshine, that brightens up my soul,
The one who makes me feel whole.
So thank you for all that you do,
And know that I love you, through and through.
