Unraveling

In a corner of a little world I wait
And all I can do is anticipate

I hear all that is going on in the news
So much our planet has it could lose

What next, my unique world I ask
Are we up to the making-life-better task?

Our little layered onion is unraveling
Someday it will not speak or sing

Oh how I hope we learn from the past
So we can make the gift of our planet last
