Unnumbered Haiku Coloured In Red

scrubbing with her hands
red stains from the priest's collar
- strawberry picking

choosing wallpaper -
the red-breasted cardinals
in my shopping bag

Last night of harvest -
reflection of red blood moon
in his empty glass

red cherry blossoms
before next winter follows
-his last picnic morn

soft vermillion wings
flutter on her bare shoulder
- the first glimpse of Spring

Its vermillion wings
perching between rose petals
sips of ambrosia

scarlet wings flutter
upon a dry corolla
unsweetened nectar

Inspired by Silent One 's haiku /senryu 5//7/5 syllables
using the colour red - not for the contest

An excellent string of haiku, Charmaine. I have been reading a lot about haiku/senryu lately and yours go very much by the rules...especially 'no spoon feeding'. Debbie's love for haiku has influenced me! ~ Regards // paul

Excellent haiku, Charmaine. You know how to give the "a-ha moment" in each of them, as well as give the sense of "lightness", that for me, is a must for haiku. I'm really digging the "wallpaper" one and the "first glimpse of spring", for its easy-going language ... your muse took you to some wonderful places.

Very very good Haiku's, each with its own poignancy, love the second last one, feels like a personal " come and sip me" challenge, make wine taste wine ...very sensuous ....mark

Thanks... Yep guess the message (the cycle of cherry blossoms which wither quickly, and the cycle of a man which ends by death, or a friendship by loss ) , yes thanks Tim.

I still have a lot to learn about haiku but the gracegutssite by haiku tutor Michael Dylan Welsch helps a lot..Along wth Deborah's haiku group..found lots of help there ,and my first helper Ruben. Seven years of learning..Still more to learn. Tnks for your input..Goodnight.

Read cherry blossoms /before early winte r's.rouch / his last picnic morn. I dont think touch is needed. I cant see sense in the haiku this way.I wanted to transmit the feeling im feeling cherry blossoms in autumn ..And last picnic of autumn neath the cherry blossom before its petals wither /die ..the cycle of the blossom ends. The man,its his last picnic, winters follow(death)..his life cycle ends..The symbolism of the cherry blossom and life.I like it how it is now..tnks

adjective such as ? Remember I want to show but dont want to tell..I hate spoon feeding in haiku

I'm thinking using an adjective before "winters" and getting rid of "to"

I do have one published about cherryblossoms and the death of a child somewhere..And I was thinking of someithing like Red cherry blossoms /before last breaths to follow ( or winters to follow as a second line..but I cant see last picnic and the n ..mourn..I was thinking last picnic to connnect with the shiort lived friendships.I cant see a picnic mourm..Does it mean someone dying on a picnic.? And its showing too much then : )..Tnks for reading :.)
