Laughing at life; Ain’t that kickin against the goad? Or is that makin’ light of a heavy load? You can cry all day in deepest sorrow, Knowing there’s a chance, You’ll laugh tomorrow. But if you don’t have that hope, don’t even start. Else you’ll never stop, It’ll tear you apart. If the pain is too much to stay where you are. Do what you must, to heal that scar. Ask for help, from the Highest Power. And that painful time, will be your finest hour.

Ah Robert, such wise words penned in great style. It flows so well and the last verse gives a wonderful closure. Hope we don't run out of things to say in the new year. All the best, Lizzie

Rob, I try to laugh at life, but when I need help, I turn to the "Highest Power" as well. A very inspirational write. I wish more folks would realize that He is always listening. As the Rolling Stones' song goes, "You can't always get what you want...you get what you need." Enjoyed reading this uplifting poem. Love, Carolyn

Love this poem, Robert. The second stanza is typical of a feel-sorry-for-myself person. The last stanza really works. More down-and-outers should try it. Love, Dave

So true! If we call upon the Lord, even the worst times become lessons that lead us to a highter plane of awareness...and a little closer to the joy of being. Our Heavenly Father brings happiness to a humble soul, making life joyful. Nice poetry, Robert.

Hi Robert, It's good to be reading you today. It's been a while. The only reason I'm on today is to leave comments on Prem. Mems. poems being featured this week. Glad I saw this by chance. Perfect title as we all need to unload,"empty" out so we can receive new gifts from God. Hoping you and family'll have a blessed Holy Week. Love, your friend, Annalise
