Universal Prayer

For the dying and the lonely
For those who cannot speak
For the aimless and drifting
For the tired and the weak
May the world be kind and gentle
May we learn to understand
May we replace the bullet and the bomb
With a gentle and helping hand

May we feed the starving
May we bring a release
From the horror and the suffering
May we bring a lasting peace
May we walk a path of brotherhood
May we grow the species soul
May we one day progress to be
Part of the Universal Whole

May we heal the blue planet
The wondrous Mother Earth
The protector of the species
The place of our birth
Let us look to the future
Let us take good heart
Without that first small step
The journey can never start

Amen
Amen

i am not a big fan of prayer, terry, but yours is one which is truly universal and beautifully composed.

Neither am I ilene. This 9s rather a secular expression of hope than a prayer I think.

Amen, What a heartfelt Prayer Terry, but as well as prayer it is a call to all mankind to realise what these men and women have been through and treat them with far more respect. They should not be receiving hand outs, Our Governments should be making sure every one of them is properly looked after with housing and pension and top notch lifetime medical assistance. Millions spent on weapons and jet planes to fly politicians around, Its a disgrace. Your poem is a stirring reminder Terry. Thanks
