Unity Bridge
A covered bridge across a lake
Spanning decades without break
A steadfast soldier tried and true
Never querulous, sans ado
Yet those who trod across its planks
Never gave a word of thanks
But without thought for its provide
Always made the other side
Until one day a storm did come
The likes of which no man has seen
The faithful bridge it did succumb
Yet fell it did with noble mien
And when the tempest had its say
Its fury done, the wind at bay
The planks in heaps strewn on the ground
Began to make a creaking sound
For as the sun rose in the sky
Its healing rays and warmth did give
The sodden wood a chance to dry
And renewed its will to want to live
And those who came and saw the mess
Then realized truly they'd been blessed
They rued that they had been so vain
And vowed to build their bridge again
And so together worked as one
All misconceptions were now gone
For with one mind they worked the wood
And saw that it was very good
