Uninvited
There she is, quite uninvited
She just burst in, unannounced
She expects to be expected
Without notice, in she bounced
Now I wonder what to tell her
Is she welcome, or is she not?
Somehow her unwanted presence
Puts my feelings on the spot
What was pushed away came forward
What was hidden reappeared
And this caused a confrontation
With the things I really feared
All of this caused by her presence
Now I’m glad, she didn’t leave
I’m learning to be much more gracious
To the guest that I call grief.
