Unhomeliness
My father beat me with his belt
Punishment was so easily dealt
T’was not the pain that caused distress
But why the hits, I could not guess
Although I was her sweet nipper
Mother joined in with her slipper
It broke my heart and made me cry
I’d often wish that I could die
