Unforgotten Summer

Summer, as it was,is well remembered,
and between
roses remains a breeze
of unforgotten days,
as gentle dew
on silent morning-grass.
Summer, as it was,
I free,
we children,
between corners
and near woods,
played hide and seek.
I now see summer at it was,
with different eyes.
And stay again there,
where I once stood
and see us in the light of bygone days
and walk along a little hand in hand.

How lovely to be able to recall summer through a child's eyes, Gert! Love the "little hand in hand" as you revisit your childhood memories. Beautifully written! Love, Carolyn
