Unfinished Perfection

Our love was left empty,
broken, bruised, and battered,
my heart was taken for granted,
left lonely, cold, and shattered.

I go back to the times,
when I was in your arms so tight,
holding me as we sleep,
until the morning light.

I thought we were meant to be,
a 12 year friendship,
with a certain connection,
it only took 2 years to prove me wrong,
and begin unfinished perfection.

If I had a choice,
I'd do it all over again,
even if you include
all the pain I held within.
