Unfinished Dreams
Old man on his front porch a'smoking his fattie
Debunking the myth of that old school for daddies
Kids from the corner they walk by and laugh
Man, they ain't got a clue, they don't even know half
The dreams that he dreamed, the things that he's seen
Of Heaven and Earth and things in between
All the King's horses and all the King's men
Can't bring back one moment that's already been
In the park there a mother doing her mama things
She's got one in the stroller and two on the swings
She recalls a summer and a boy way back when
And just for a moment she is sixteen again
The dreams that she dreamed, things that she's seen
Of Heaven and Earth and things in between
All the King's horses and all the King's men
Can't bring back one moment that's already been
Go pick you a flower, go pick a guitar
Go right you a wrong, go shoot for the stars
Go make you some hay while the sun is still shining
If you still have breath then you still have some time
I walk with my dog down the L & N tracks
Past the New Church of Jesus by the old Pack A Sack
I love early mornings all shiny and new
Got me humming along as I work out a tune
Oh, dreams that I dream, the things that I've seen
Of Heaven and Earth and things in between
All the King's horses and all the King's men
Can't bring back one moment that's already been
Can't bring back one moment that's already been
