Under the Mask
Who am I trying to be,
always trying to please,
it's become so hard,
to take off this mask.
I want to look deep within,
to see what's really inside,
but each time I try,
I find another reason to hide.
I pretty much know I'm broken,
to many pieces taped together,
dropping off here and there,
I pick em up quickly out of fear.
I'm a man, got to be strong,
hold your shyt together,
show a pretty picture for the world,
yet holding on by a tether.
I'm so hard on myself,
never time to be free,
I can't be complacent,
too many people rely on me.
Constantly battling,
between virtues and beliefs,
social conscious,
usually dictates.
Under this mask,
that i'm trying to pull off,
I guess has to be a child,
that wasn't allowed to grow up.
