Under Her Umbrella
UNDER HER UMBRELLA
Thank you for letting me share your umbrella.
I am so grateful for this weather.
It is the perfect opportunity
For us to huddle close together.
Without the rain, I would be too shy
To say what I’ve always wanted to.
Er …while I try to pluck up courage,
Shall I carry your books for you?
I suppose that what I am trying to say
Is, when we grow up I would like to be
The umbrella that always shelters you,
If you want to share your life with me.
But alas, my dream is short-lived.
It was only a passing cloud.
And, of course, I could never bring myself
To say my thoughts out loud.
