Unbelievable

How can a Lawyer defend
The undefendable?
How many times can you bend the truth
When is the truth unbendable?

How can a Lawyer look the Judge in the eye?
And blatantly lie,
It is not commendable.

It is difficult for the truth to understand,
Why?
Is the Lawyer guilty too?
Stating that the truth is another lie

It makes one wonder about the law,
What were the rules made for,
Not to be broken, that's for sure.

When did the truth become a lie?
In court the other day.
A lawyer said this could be so
As he brushed the truth away.

I did say, "Lawyer."
Although I found it inconceivable
When a respected man of the law
States lies, and the truth is the same,
Unbelievable.

It is disgraceful that lawyers lie to acquit evil persons.

Thank you, Victor I do not know how Lawyers can live with themselves when they succeed in getting their client off when they know he is guilty.

Somebody has to defend people who have been accused. It's a dirty job but someone has to do it. I believe the word they use is "vigorously". If you had ever been wrongfully accused, you would want a lawyer you could trust and would pursue your innocence vigorously. "Innocent until proven guilty" Unless you were an eye witness, everything you know is hearsay. "Gossip" It's not what you know but what you can prove. Thats just how the system works. Great poem makes one think, Shirley.

Thank you, Daniel, "innocent until proven guilty." That is why we have Judges and Law Courts. I am all for "vigorous." The more vigorous, the better. My preference is for "honest" investigations. And Lawyers who do their job diligently whether they win or lose the case. Take care, Old Duck

The shame of a lawyer making up things to get the defendant off is horrible. Uncovering the truth tho defend is fine but a lawyer should be held to account for doing wrong. If the person is guilty then they are just guilty. Crazy!

I could not agree more, Kim. It is a vocation for Lawyers who take their jobs seriously, unlike some who think it is a feather in their hat if they know their client was guilty and got him off anyway. Crazy, Indeed.

I totally agree with you, Shirley! Why take a case if you have to lie?! My father, a lawyer, and I always disagreed about this, and I'm sure that's why I never became a lawyer, an occupation I was perfectly suited for... Never looked back, either...

Thank you, Gershon. The lawyers that feel the need to win every case are in the wrong job, it must be very difficult for the ones that take their job seriously to put up with, people tend to think all Lawyers are the same which is far from the truth.
