Two Times Today
Two times today
With the phone in my hand
I almost called you…
I miss the sound of your tender voice
As it echoes across the miles
The way our voices seem to change
As “hellos” turn into smiles
When awkward silences fill the air
And small talk tends to leave
‘Tis my heart that skips a beat
As I listen to you breathe
Imagining you next to me
Fingers tangled in my hair
The way your hazel eyes turn green
And your glance into a stare
If windows to your very soul
Lead me down a path that’s pure
My hands would hold your gentle heart
And offer you the cure
Teaching you to love again
A chance I’m willing to take
But can you hold a heart too tight
And never let it break?
Three times today
With the phone in my hand
I almost called you…
