Two Memorable Days

Today is a day I shall always remember That dreadful, awful eleventh of September, Driving home listening to the newscaster Wondering what might be the hereafter, Thinking about the line that was crossed -- Afraid for our country; mourning the lost, A day in my life like none I could remember That dreadful, awful eleventh of September. Then, horror on the sixth day of January I shall always remember the terrible spree, The insurrectionist attack on our capitol Hard to believe something so lunatical I feared the ship of state was sinking fast A group of radical traitors were amassed At the behest of our defeated president Minions trying to destroy our government.

It was horrible; I was at school and teachers were flipping on the TV sets, terrifying their students.

Oh, wow. I'm surprised that they would have done that in front of the children. It was horrifying enough for me, much less kids.

Milton I remember that day. I worked the night shift and was finished in the morning at 7am I went to bed. I remember waking up to a phone call from my late mother telling me as I was waking up that we were being attacked. It was a memory that will stay with me. It was devastating for those families to lose their loved Ones in those towers. My heart cried out for them. The workers that died from inhaling the smoke from the buidings was awful too as they got cancer later in their lives...

Thanks for your thoughts and valuable contributions through this comment, Michael. I need to watch "Loose Change" if I can find it.

ps want to share some facts with you on 9/11/2001 and 9/10/2001. Did you know that on 9/10/2001 the day before 911 Donald Rumsfeld declared that there was 2.3 TRILLION dollars missing in transactions from the Pentagon and this was put under the carpet and nothing else said about it. How conveniently it was said the day before 911, where all the attention was garnered by 911. Did you know that George Bush's son was in charge of security for the Towers that were attacked, and many believe there was a major cover up. Also did you know that building 7 did not get hit at all by the jets and that building went down? Also the Patriot act was created from 911 that many scholars say have taken away much of our freedoms. Many unanswered questions that the American public will never know...

Milton if you ever get a chance there was a documentary that was made that paints a somewhat different picture and asks many important questions that were never answered. It is called Loose Change. I encourage you to watch it. Thanks for sharing and recognizing a day that we will never forget and hold dear inour hearts as Americans...

I was luckier than you. My daughter was in labor with my first grandchild on Sept. 11, 2001. And on January 6, 2021, I put my money on Mike Pence to come through. Too bad he probably will never become President. He's the closest thing to a statesman this country's had in a long while. Read his position papers. They're well-written and much more detailed than any others I've seen. Oh, well... :) gw

I was still in bed watching the early news. My first instinct when a plane hit one of thr towers was that it was a terrorist attack. I was right! The 2nd hit on the other tower only confirmed my judgement. That day and others (JFK assisination and Jan. 6th 2022 are branded on my psyche until the day I die.

It astounds me at how much I remember about those days, and I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday! (chuckling)

Two terrible days that you'd rather forget Milton but they're are etched in your mind. I remember watching 9/11 on the news and couldn't believe what I was seeing. Tom

It was an awful day, Tom. For a few hours most of us Americans couldn't fathom what was happening. I remember that awful feeling in my gut.
