Two Hearts Came Together

Two hearts came together, many years ago, love blossomed into sweet harmony, that led to a happy union of bliss, until 1918 when the great plaque swept our great nation that left only one heart, to grieve a long life of loneliness and despair to the very end of her days. wrote 3-29-11 based on my grandfather George Miller's death. He was my mom's dad. George Miller 1882-1919. My mom had to quit school at age 14 to help out at home.

You know James when we look back at the lives those before us lived we realize just how lucky we are. Unfortunately, every blessing recorded in history is paralleled by some form of curse. We may not have as much tragic death in our lives now but we also have lost the innocence we once had as a Nation, Love your poetry, mj

The kind of love your grandmother had for your grandfather is admirable. Makes one wish they had more time together. --thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on my first poem here, James!

How sad that your grandmother lost her husband so young, James. A beautiful poem! My mother had to quit school at 16 and go to work. Her family struggled through the depression. There's a good reason people of our parents' era were called "The Greatest Generation." A tender and loving tribute to your grandfather. Best wishes, Carolyn

There was that great influenza epidemic..My father told me about it..He said that whole families would be down in the bed sick at one time..So many died..I know that had to be hard on your grandmother and the children of their marriage to try to survive when times was hard anyway..Enjoyed learning a little of your family history..Great historical work..Thanks for your kind review of my work..Sara
