Two Fat Pigeons
Two fat pigeons sitting on my sill
Just passing by, just saying hello
Perhaps just a rest before they go
If I open my window I’ll scare them away
It’s so nice to have company on a boring day
One grayish black the other grayish white
I welcome them both to stay through the night
Two close friends out for a fly
Could it be their lost, do they need my help
Not a chirp, not a sound, not even a yelp
I could offer them lunch, a cracker or two
Or a handful of crumbs like you give at the zoo
May and Ray, I’ll name my new friends
When you fly away and this happy day ends
An open invitation will certainly extend
I’ll crack my window and leave a few crumbs
From today moving forward we’ll always be chums
