Twists and Turns
All those twists and turns
to this place now bring me,
amidst humps and bumps
on long, deserted highways.
Failures far too many to count,
success very few in between;
discouragements strewn all over
dragging, pulling me down under.
Yet mighty proud to surrender
though the spirit grows weary,
while faint lights out yonder
endlessly flicker, beckoning.
So here I am proudly standing,
proclaiming hey, I am winning!
thanks to an inner fire that burns,
unfazed by those twists and turns.
