Twins Die

TWINS DIE ‘HELP’ twins are on fire, Proud buildings, tall, there, To admire, Firemen rush to the scene, Risking their lives, their, Everything their complete being, People jumping from windows, 100 or more stories high, Kept falling out of the sky, Some from burnt out planes, Others burnt inside the twin towers, And became cinder, Adding to the flames and tinder Smoke, bodies, debris everywhere, Tears, shouts half burnt People soon to become corpses! It looked like hell From all directions a yell, A horror movie, a bad spell. Soon silence, just concrete falling alight, On the ground with a thunderous might! Survivors screaming, looking for the lost, Some found still burning, what a cost, These innocent people had to pay, To believers praising Allah prepared to die, On this disastrous Day! The devils carnage, to please remember, This year as we celebrate 25th December, What Happened on the 11th September, 2001, disastrous, horrific, Our wish to their families is peace For their heartbreak will never cease! And then to those who bore, The brunt of the American wrath, Innocent children amongst thousands killed, Indiscriminately who were bombed, Perhaps also fried and grilled, By flames from buildings that spilled! We are all children of God, Why should anyone have to face, Any human attack, a death squad! United we all want the same, We want peace to reign.

You have described those awful tragic moments so vividly, Jenny. These are scenes which will long last in our memory. Heartbreak for many will never fade away. I cannot understand why so many prefer war to peace...hate to love! ~ I hope you had a wonderful Christmas Day! Warm regards // paul

Hi Paul, My husband and I actually saw the 2nd plane crashing into the 2nd tower in real time as we went to gym and everyone was glued to the TV - We thought WW 3 had started until seconds later someone explained what was happening. We were dumb struck and i began crying - to this day their ghosts haunt me and my prayers are with their families . Thank you for your meaningful, considerate comment Paul, our Christmas Day was like hot chocolate on roasted marshmallows but we had ice cream instead of marshmallows - we are sitting at 40 degrees centigrade! warm regards, Jennifer.

Thank-you Connie, Senseless killing - tragic day to remember - I remember I was at gym and everyone had collected around the TV and called everyone over, I thought World War 111 had been declared! A blessed Christmas Connie to you and all your family. Jennifer.

It's sometimes hard for gentle people like us poets to realize how much evil there is in this world of ours....and, of course, perhaps even worse are those who refuse to call acts such as those of 9/11 evil, in the childish belief that the perpetrators had a "cause." It would be well for them to remember that prisons are full of people who still believe that they were in the right. Thought-provoking write, Jennifer! Season's best, Gershon

Such a tragedy indeed. Even now, so many years later- I have a hard time understanding why anyone would do such horrible things to others. Your thoughts touch my heart deeply. Many wonderful blessings to you. Stay safe my friend. ~ Brandy

Hi Silent one, I wrote and described it as graphically as would be permitted. It was horrific, the 11th September 2001 and has left us all asking, why? Thank-you for your comment and glad I brought out the desired effect! Jennifer.

Sad piece but wonderful on the remembrance of the september 11 incidence... This sums it up "A horror movie, a bad spell. Soon silence, just concrete falling alight, On the ground with a thunderous might!" Why would someone kill for some 'god'? It is quite unfortunate because as a Nigerian, I face this with my fellow compatriots for the past 7 years now. A great piece this is, merry christmas and a wonderful 2019 my friend.
