Twilight
The time of the moon is nigh
the sun begins to sleep
it's remnant
an orange shimmer across the waters
you sit at the waters' edge
knees bent holding them inward
curled up
wishing something to hold onto once more
the twilight of this day
as apparent as your life
the setting of your sun
grinning at nature's ironic sense of humor
you watch the shimmer shrink
across the waters' surface
as if a hand reaching out
begging not to let go
last glimpse of light
you ponder as it diminishes
acknowledging it will rise again
thus bringing the new dawn
but never knowing when
