Twice As Much

When they fell in love he felt blessed to find a person he adored. He couldn’t control his happiness…he’d never felt such love before. He thought he loved her more than anyone could love her… He thought he loved her like no-one ever had… until the day she took him home and introduced him to her dad. Immediately they understood how similar they were… how the two of them shared, in their own way, a profound love for her. How, although in her life each of their loves played a different part… the two of them both loved her with all the love within their hearts. But as beautiful and as everlasting as love is…life itself is brief… and one byproduct of loving…one consequence…is grief. When her father died she was filled with sorrow knowing her world would never be as it was before……. knowing he would not be here to love her anymore. He didn’t know how to help her fix something she couldn’t repair…restore…rebuild… didn’t know how to help her fill a void that can’t be filled. He knew moving forward would be difficult…that times ahead would be rough… but he also knew how much he loved her her… and he hoped that love would be enough. As she lay sobbing into her pillow… she felt his gentle touch… “I guess now,” he said kissing her hand, “I’ll have to love you twice as much.”
