Twelve Angelic Douzepers

Twelve angelic douzepers, in robes with staffs,
Sitting in position, waiting for the next earth-observer.
Many hear the laugh outside the door and smile,
Remembering her well,
Admiring her decision to split in two
And become twins on her last earthly voyage.
Twelve angelic douzepers, trying to look stern
When the silver door opens,
But she laughs again,
Dissolving their stoic positions.
