Tween Waking and Sleep

I feel I could find
everything I left behind
Whispered through the canyons of my brain
listening to the echoes
feeling tearful tremors
shaking on the roots of all I find

If memories are kind
and I hold on in my mind
to everything we shared within our souls
I'll waken feeling better
With my eyes a little wetter
as I sail in windy breeze to make me hold
Onto the real things as we grow old

Within the vagrant breezes of my ever seeking mind
On seas of sweet familiar feeling ride
I'll tack and come about
Closely hauled and leaning out
The tiller held behind my bracing knees
Just to slip within your arms in lazy ease
Sinking into pillows by your side

Sleeping is just resting from the loving
And dreaming' s just a promise to be kept
To mitigate the moments when we wept
