Twas the Night Before Christmas
Twas the night before Christmas and at the North Pole
The reindeer were prancing and ready to roll.
Illustrious Rudolph had polished his nose
To honour tradition which claims that it glows.
And Santa’s small helpers, the diligent elves
Had labelled the presents stacked high on the shelves.
But where was the boss? He’d been missing all day,
It wasn’t like him to create a delay.
Then up popped a text on young Jingle Bell’s phone.
It read : ‘ I’m so sorry to leave you alone:
The Missus and I took a cheap flight to Spain
I just couldn't face all those mince pies again!
I’m off for a dip so I'll have to be brief,
We’ll send you a postcard from warm Tenerife!
PS: Please don’t panic for help is at hand
Look up to the skies and you’ll soon see them land.
And sure enough floating down from the night sky
Two figures descended, umbrellas raised high.
And Mary and Bert, I am happy to say,
Proved ‘practically perfect in every way!’
