Twain Phrasis Recited
TWAIN PHRASIS
Private thoughts can never lie as
a mist on a mirror,for the charm
of a picture grows.A procession of
people file through my mind masses
of virgin truth multiplying and
multiplying yet memory shrinks
upon a second look.Trifles of
information grow,spread & grow.
This passage of prose,takes root
in thought, has a worldly air of the
peak of a perfect day ,purple with
shade.Then,lucid expressions
washes from the mind as life &
personality holy&precious simple
& sure different, & yet characteristic
casting an arch glance at the frantic
gesture,we keep to ourselves.
From Twain letters 1917
